Jürgen Klopp Awarded Honorary CBE in Recognition of Services to Football
Hamburg, 8 June 2026 – Jürgen Klopp has been awarded an Honorary Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (CBE), in recognition of his outstanding services to football and his enduring contribution to the Liverpool community. Klopp is represented by ProjectFIVE, SPORTFIVE’s boutique athlete representation platform.
Widely regarded as one of the most influential football managers of his generation, Klopp’s impact has always extended far beyond results on the pitch. Across a distinguished career in European football, he has combined elite performance with a genuine commitment to people, place and purpose, values that found their fullest expression during his time with Liverpool FC.
From the moment he arrived on Merseyside, Klopp became more than a manager. He helped shape a modern Liverpool identity built on intensity, belief and togetherness, restoring the club to the very highest level while building a real, emotional connection with the city and its supporters around the world.
Under his leadership, Liverpool entered one of the most successful periods in its modern history. His achievements include lifting the UEFA Champions League and delivering the club’s first league title in 30 years, alongside an FA Cup, two League Cups, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup triumphs. Just as importantly, these successes were delivered with a spirit and style that resonated far beyond the game itself.
Klopp’s bond with the city of Liverpool has been equally significant. Throughout his time at the club, he was a visible and passionate advocate for the local community, supporting a wide range of social and charitable initiatives, most notably through his close relationship with the LFC Foundation. In recognition of that connection, he was awarded the Freedom of the City of Liverpool, an honour that reflected not just success, but the genuine affection and respect between Klopp and the people of the city.
